Life is more than just a journey you can take in one single leap of faith. It’s a journey where that leap of faith is the only force you can either give in to or not. It’s the yes or no. It’s the hello and the goodbye. It’s the space in between.
There are people who would pass your life in a way you never expected them to or rather; they’re those people you’ve never expected at all to be part of your precious life. You meet them. You hate them. But in the end, you learned to love them not because of who they are or of who you are when you’re with them, but it’s those things you’ve learned from them that you always try to deny or avoid to think of.
Patience is a virtue but sometimes, it becomes a different thing. It becomes a skill that you have to master. But it’s impossible unless you’re perfect. And nobody’s perfect.
Taking risk is taking all of these things in one single basket. But these are not the investments you’ll make; these are the materials that make up that basket of yours. Your investments are the sacrifices you make---the risks you’re willing to take. In life, return can be an invisible figure, an unseen force that will hold you to expect, to hope, to disappoint and be disappointed, to break you, to mend you. It’s that glue that can be easily washed away by water but when it’s gone, it’s gone. It’s volatile like stocks but it can also be reassuring like bonds. It can be a treasury bill when you’re depending on that person, however not far from that; it can be a demand when you expect a lot.
Yes, return is “utang na loob” but it can also be unconditional that is when return is zero but it’s still worth taking the risk. But how certain uncertainty can be?
Without risk, life is an empty basket. It stays there stagnant, no investments, no return, not even a zero-percent-worthy return. But regardless of that, are you willing to take risk for an uncertain return? Be human.
